After intensive research, replacing unnecessary parts and countless times of stripping and replacing the driver’ s door card, the open door error is finally Resolved.
What’s not the problem:
1. Door lock mechanism
2. Lower Door micro switch
3. Golf V door mechanism are all not the same
4. No coding is required if the lock mechanism is changed.
1st attempt was to strip the lock mechanism and take a look at the micro switch as suggested on one forum DIY Ref: VW Golf, After a lot of sweat and tears, I removed the mechanism and striped it down to gears and springs, the Micro switch is a sealed unit, I cleaned as best as I could and put back together, refitted unit to door and door card, result door still shows opened - problem unresolved -Time spend 3 hours.
2nd Attempt, I purchased the exact same unit Part number for part number (JA6 1P2 837 016), note VW South Africa lists it as VW EOS New part cost R2500/USD$ 284.63. I visited a large VW, AUDI , SEAT breaker and after going through about 50 units I matched the correct 1. I fitted this unit and viola …….Problem persists. – Fitment time 1.5 hours Used part cost R 650/ USD$74.00
3rd Attempt, Door MODULE, located on the door card, attached to the window motor, I managed to strip the unit, easily slide the unit out from the window motor, Open the casing and soldered all the Large solider joints, a lot of joints I would not touch as they are small machine solder with mini resistors. Refitted the unit and Viola working perfectly, I tested locking the door with my remote overnight alarm on, perfect, next morning I open the door closed it and problem was back….Door ‘F&*Kn’ open light stays on!!!!! – Time spent 3 hours +++ half litre tears
4th Attempt, back to the local wreckers, once again VW / AUDI doesn’t seem to be the same fitment, after going through a box of different door modules, I spotted a complete SETA LEON driver’s door with door card, We stripped it and found the exact match door module, Match part number for Part number (1K0 959 793 M). Returned home fitted it and to date 3 weeks later , no more pesky door light, remote works 100% as it should, no alarm going off for no reason, Note no re-coding was required, everything works even fold up mirrors. These units are sold with the window motor.
COST – let’s say I drop a few notes and pocketed just the module *wink, wink*
Hope this help anyone who has this frustrating door open light on the dash and can't use the remote to lock the car.
Sent me a shout out if you require picture of the modules
