Thought so but, you never can be too sure. Sounds like something is jamming in the door on the door catch or something. Have you tried taking the door card off to have a look - make sure you get some spare door clips before you do that though.

You are gonna have to get the door cards off mate, chatting on the forum ain't gonna fix it. I'm going with Cornishsteve on this one (checkstraps). By the the way I must have the luxury version with my leccy windows

I had a quick play with mine the other day. Definitely seems like the checkstraps are at fault.

The windows only go fully down with the door open. And when you close the door it makes a sound that I can only describe as a noise like a metal checkstrap hitting a Seat Arosa door window!

Door cards need to come off. There's gonna be swearing!

Strap that sticks out between the hinges and is attached to the door and shell - stops the door opening all in one go and going to wide. Next time you open the door, do it slowly and you'll feel a couple of 'clunks' which is the check-strap holding the door back :)

Mine are electric but the passenger side is encentric. If you wind it fully down, when you press up it comes up half way then goes back down? does it a few times before it goes fully up.

The drivers side you just press up once then it goes up on its own shuts, and if it could, make you a cup of tea.

Not everything electric is good!

I've only bloody fixed it Steve!

And you don't even need to take the door cards off! (Although I had taken both the top and bottom door cards off the drivers door before I discovered this!)

Open the door fully and there are two bolts that attach the check strap to the door. Mine had either lost the nuts or snapped off the metal around them. So when you close the door the business end of the check strap sticks too far into the door and does nasty things to your windows!

Make sure the bolts are lined up and sticking back through the holes and simply replace/refit the nuts. They're standard M6 nuts (10mm outside, 6mm thread). I thought it would be a good idea to fit some slightly larger washers just to spread the load.

Seat wanted 47p each... But I asked nicely and got some from a local fastener company with a handful of washers for £0! You may not even need to buy new nuts. I found all 4 original ones inside the door as I was fitting the last new one! Have a poke around the check strap with a magnetic screwdriver.

Also... I think my little Arosa has had his drivers side window smashed at some point!? What do you think?
