Double DIN head units

The booster was for the FM/AM aerial. I've got it wired to the cig-lighter socket so it's ignition based. If I don't have it switched on my radio signal drops to virtually nothing on AM, so if you plan on using the radio, I'd strongly recommend one.

The sat nav runs off its own aerial, which I stuck to some metalwork behind the glovebox near the passenger door (it was magnetic). Seems to work quite well.

Why was '*****' asterisk'd out?

EDIT: Is my username offensive or something?

Post up some pics when fitted. I'm loving the look of the Pioneer units, do you know if they have a removable screen or any other anti-theft devices?

If you install a double din. Do you lose the phone function thats built in to the car? Or is that a seperate unit?

I am unbelievably stressed out trying fit this thing, can't figure out how to attach the facia plate to the double din unit.... Let alone how to go about fitting the wire to the handbrake or even have to remove my old usb/ iPod connection from the glove box there doesn't seem to be a big enough hole at the back of it get them through?!

Hi, As far as I am aware . You fit the stereo first then clip the facia plate over the top?

You can just earth the handbrake cable! saving you the hastle of running it to the handbrake.

Not sure about the last bit though.

Hope this helps a little bit

This is the reason I'd never change my Ibiza headunit, that looks really out of place :(

Spawnagain:Finally managed to figure it out thankfully lol Now i'm stuck on how to get the usb to the glovebox as the current hole is tiny and the head of the cable won't fit through it... Also now have to remove it all again as its too far forwards in the cage so the facia won't clip on... Today been a long day lol

Good good, I remember cutting half of the inside of the dash out to get things to fit into the ford!

A dremmel can soon sort the hole out, Just take your time, as it will look good in the end.

I would put mine in, but the phone connection is so good with the seat unit that I don't want to risk it.

Still would like to see pics! Take them as you go so you can help others?

Thanks

J

Ok managed to fit the 'cage' perfectly now so the facia fits flush with the dash. As far as thats concerned i have no issues with it, as far as i can tell it fits perfectly, just a bit boring being black so may have to go down the 3m dinoc carbon route lol

Radio has no signal so will need to get a booster from somewhere but have no idea where to start with that.

Bluetooth module hasn't arrived yet so will have to rip it all back out again when that does so i have phone capabilities. Will sort the phone/ usb via the glove box at the same time as doing that. Will try take a rough step by step photo guide when i remove it that day to help others.

So for now i have the head unit in but can only use the cd player and the SD Card although it appears i have too much music on my SD card as it was still trying to read it after a good 20 minute drive...

Silent *****: You know the cable bundle you used that connects everything up and allows the steering wheel stalk controls to work? Well where did you plug the 3.5 jack? Everything else seems to work with this aside from the stalk controls which is frustrating :(

Edit: Solved :D

I agree, been looking everywhere for one and had no luck. Just going to stick to my standard one i think. Bit of a shame Seat don't do their own upgrade one like VW and Vauxhall do.
