I thought that seeing as there has been talk of double din radios on here recently I'd put up a few pictures of the install I did yesterday.
It's a JVC KW-NT3 NAV/RADIO/DVD/USB/BlueTooth unit.
Along with the unit it's self, I got a steering wheel control adapter, aerial adapter and fitting fascia.
First off was to take the old radio out. The fascia pulls off over and around the radio. It is hard to get off and does take some pulling.
Under that are 4 torx screws and the radio pulls out.
I had to find somewhere for the GPS antenna so I mounted it of the top of the dash. Ran the wire around the back of the dash near the glass and then down where the front pillar is.
I decided to put the microphone for the bluetooth in the same place as the existing microphone instead of using the clip that come with it.
Here is the original mic:
I moved this out of the way and tucked it into the roof lining.
I placed the new mic in the same gap:
Next was installing the cage and surround into the double din space. Plugged in the wiring adapter which also decodes the steering wheel controls. There is also an adapter for the radio antenna. There is lots of space below the radio so all the extra wires tuck away easily.
And with everything all connected, it works a treat.
The draw backs are the original USB port near the cup holder is now redundant and the built in voice activated bluetooth now doesn't work either. I knew that before starting though. The JVC unit like most has a USB and an SD card port anyway. It also has it's own bluetooth but it is not voice activated. You select an entry from the phone book on the touch screen instead.
