Yes a decent map is essential if doing a dpf delete and also the regen process needs to be sorted on the file.Lol I've seen a few that have had the delete and with a terrible map,the amount of black smoke that come out under WOT was unbelievable and they ran really rough.

Used to have a mk2 Fr derv and looked into doing a delete but in the end sold it for my mk2 Cupra.

Ultimately the FR was a great car as standard but just didn't give me the grin factor like I get from the Tfsi.
yeah they a totally different car with DPF out and remap. Mine gives me plenty of grins

What engine is in yours mate? Mine was the pd170 on a 57 plate. It had a few issues in the end so that was another reason I decided to cut my losses as it had made me lose the love for it.

It's the CR170 shame, loving the one you have now, I'm a big tfsi fan too to be honest, PD's can be pretty problematic to be honest. VNT's , EGR, Tandem pump, Cam wear, obviously injector recall, and most common across the range the DPF be it a Audi or SEAT there just a time bomb waiting to fail

Cheers buddy much appreciated she's my money pit haha,as it stands I've not had to spend a penny on repairs it's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever had but I do like to keep on top of it maintenance wise and all of the common parts that fail have been either changed for new or I inspect them on a regular basis.

Yes the CR engines are much better IMO and also the way the regen cycle works is a massive improvement on how the PD version works.

Have had four PD engined vags now one golf, one mk1 Leon and two mk2's and all of them had similar issues:cry:

Worst was the mk1 Leon kept getting over boost and limp mode I never got it sorted as it was high miles so just sold as seen. Think it was either sticking turbo veins or egr but couldn't be bothered with throwing money at it.

If I was to ever get another diesel for a work car say it would have to have a map and dpf gutted as my last one really was a nightmare. This I couldn't understand as I do big miles and drive it as you should to keep the dpf clear but it still spat it's dummy out lol.

But with mine being one of the earlier cars with a dpf I strongly believe the manufacturer rushed them as I'm sure the law came in a very short time before the March 2007 plate was on sale.So they weren't really tested properly for long term reliability.
