Driver seatbelt warning ... driving me nuts!

Hi all

I'm suffering. My Seat Altea (06 plate) is refusing to accept that I have clipped my seatbelt in securely when driving and beeps at me every couple of seconds.

I'm pretty sure its an issue with the contacts as I've tried to look in the buckle and all seems clear. When the belt is crippled, there is a bit of play but it's pretty secure.

I've managed to fix the issue temporarily by wrapping a bit of duct tape around the seatbelt connector and this gives a snug fit which stops the beeping. However, the tape eventually gets pulled away and I'm back to the incessant beeps.

I've been quoted around 160 - 180 GBP for a new buckle to be fitted ... :(

So before I splash out silly money to resolve what seems to be a yet another Seat Altea auto-electrics issue ... Is there a way I can simple disconnect the alarm for the driver seat belt? I thought there might be a fuse but I can't find one for seatbelt and I've read there might be a cable that runs under the seat that I could disconnect. Not sure though.

Any help or advice to resolve this appreciated

Hi

Perhaps the most effective temporary fix is that the Seatbelt chime can be turned off using vcds, or vag com of old.

Coding in the instrument cluster module is changed to do this. It's 5 minute job.

Look in the vag-com forum on here to find a local user. Or any of the other VW group forums on the web. Two very well populated forums have set up users shown on Google maps now.

Or alternatively drive to brighton and I'll do it for you:)

Thanks Paul ... I'm in NW London (Harrow area) so will ask in the VAG-COM forum!
