How many miles have people driven in limp mode?

This morning on the motorway the DPF light came on (2nd time ever). 60 miles and 40 mins later it i still couldn't get the light to go off and then it went into limp mode even after i tried 4th 5th and 6th gear cruise speeds at between 50 - 80 mph so completed the last 20 miles or so of my journey in limp mode.

So, now its in limp mode, i'm 130 miles from home and have a job i need to do tomorrow which will be another 300ish miles.

Whats peoples thoughts? Risk it?

Gonna try some dealers down in Bristol today to see if they can look at it after my job down here, but i'm to going to hold my breath.

Limp's not actually to bad, it gets up to speed eventually

I am not sure about the distance you can go but as far as Bristol dealers I would try the new one as mine has been in holders for the last 8 days and haven't heard anything. It's in for the same thing.

The one on feeder road i tried ... 01179 724 242 was the number found on seat website

Well, the answer if anyone searches later on is ......

450ish mostly motorway miles :) and garage was able to fix it by doing a DPF regeneration (plugging in computer and driving it!).

Limp mode power is poor (no turbo, revs limited to 2800rpm I'd say about 50-60bhp max) , pulling out on busy junctions is not for the faint hearted.

Motorway cruising speeds is 70-75 on the flat, 50 up hills, 90 down hills.

As for seat breakdown assistance, its a direct number to TheAA, if they recover the car they can supply you a car for 72 hours, however, if its out of hours, trying to get a car pretty much means a trip to an airport which is about the only place open to get hire cars from.

Interestingly, TheAA mans book says if the DPF light is on to drive it for 5 mins or more at 4,000 rpm until the light goes out. Harsh, but i'll certainly give it a try next time if i get this problem again.
