If you download an app called carista and pair it with a Bluetooth obd2 dongle (or WiFi adapter if you use apple products) you can make a whole host of adjustments such as this, including lights on when unlocking, fog light drl, alarm beep etc etc.

Dongle should be about £5 off ebay or amazon and apply is £15. Well worth the pennies. Other option is using VCDS but that would cost a fair bit more.

Yeah works really well, it can't do everything that VCDS does, but they are adding to it over time and it doubles up as a great VAG specific fault code reader. I diagnosed my airbag fault, abs fault and various other bits so a great tool to have for so little money.

If you look here you can see what can be changed http://www.caristaapp.com/supported-vehicles/#seat

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but am I reading correctly? Can that app disable the all windows down when holding the unlock button on the key feature? If so I'm interested! Could you link what obd dongle I'd need please?

Thanks.

I have an ELM 2 dongle I use for my Torque App so hopefully it'll work. All those dopey wee things I've wanted to try and maybe change back can now be done without pestering someone with VCDS.

I've downloaded the app but will try/pay tonight and see how it goes.

Yeah will be able to that, here is an example that should work based on reviews online http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...+bluetooth&dpPl=1&dpID=41gH1vreZoL&ref=plSrch

You can get cheaper ones but if you do go for one dispatched from the UK. That's what I did and it works perfectly. If you use an iPhone you will need a WiFi adapter though, Apple will not allow a connection to Bluetooth adapters.

Cheers. It's an iPhone I'm using, will this work?: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wirless-sca...qid=1435563285&sr=8-5&keywords=Obd2+wifi+elm2

Is the app free?

I have a friend who had access to VAGCOM so I can enable that feature no problem. With reference to the video I'm guessing people just replace the fog light bulbs with LED? However from what I can tell it looks like the car in the video has some modified/aftermarket fog light cluster.

The free version cannot save changes so technically no, but you can make sure that the dongle works before shelling out the £15 or so for the full app. I'm guessing that the linked WiFi adapter would work, but I cannot be sure so could always test with the free version.

You can get LED fog lights, have a look on eBay mate.

Slightly curious here, how does that blue-tooth dongle thing work??

The dongle plugs into the obd2 port under the headlight switch. You then pair with your phone and the app can then communicate with the relevant ECU. The power comes from the port so best not to leave it plugged in 24-7 as might drain the battery.

Just paid for the app there. Works great.

I did needle sweep , alarm beeps , turned off rear wiper "teardrop" wipe .

As for DRLs, if I do "designated DRLs" my sidelights come on as DRLs but it's the rears too and no dash illumination. If I pick "fog lights" it brings them on as DRLs but along with sidelights. So realistically u may aswell just manually turn the switch on . Unless I'm doing something stupid.

It's also now telling me on my dash to check my numberplate bulbs, I have leds fitted and they're working but must just not like it anymore. It did use to flick up "front left sidelight" (also led) so maybe the can bus system has just moved on to the numberplate. I might see about getting a full new set but this will be my 3rd set ! Don't know if it's worth getting led fog bulbs in case they act up too (don't think there as easy to change)

other than that I'm well chuffed for £15. Cheers Mike !

Cheers mike

Hmm I'm actually interested in investing in this, see how everyone gets on

What's the best mods you guys have done?

So if your car didn't have DRL's as an option (mine is an 08 red sport) you can still turn them on with this app?

mine didn't come with DRLs, but I can use the app to select what lights to have as DRL. (no need to turn switch)
problem I have is that allough the dash doesn't light up , the rear lights do. So if I select "side lights" as DRL , it's just like turning on my side lights but with no dash. OK , it saves me turning a switch but not the best. Also if I select "fog lights " as DRLs, the fogs and sidelights all come on !
I might send the developer a message to see if I'm doing something wrong, but everything else on the list works great!
