I have asked this on a number of forums with no luck, my question is can you disable/enable drls without vagcom on the Leon??

On my previous car, a golf, you could by using the full beam /indicator stalk and turning on ignition. Will give this a go on the Leon at some point but just wondering if anyone has managed to disable them by other means?

As DRLs have been compulsory on new cars since Feb 7th 2011, I would imagine that to enable them to be switched off would not be allowed in car design, and that therefore there is no simple action to disable them as that would defeat the object of the law.

I assume your golf was made before that date?

Yes you are right it was a 59 plate though it passed two mots with the drls disabled. Think I read somewhere that although the eu directive made drls compulsory on all new cars they dont have to be used here at the moment???

Yes with VCDS. there's a good guide on here if you do a search. It links to a translated German page I think, steimi.de or similar.

Have a look at the register and see if anyone is near you, or get one from Ali Express.

Any particular reason you want them off? I have mine coded with the option to switch off in the menu, but unless I'm sat waiting with the ignition on somewhere I can't see any reason why I'd use it.

It's a shame you posted when you did as I was up that way last week and would have been able to do in for you, but there may be another member in the area who would help out.

Precisely as you have said, if sitting on a cold winters night with the engine running it would be good to be able to disable them, as I could on the Golf. Having had the car for a few days these lights and the led headlights are absolutely great, and I can also just switch on the sidelights I suppose to turn off the drls.

It is just good to be able to have the ability to do certain things with the car through the mfd I think.

Hang on, am I reading between the lines correctly here. Are you all saying that when you go dogging, it is beneficial to disable the DRL's as not to attract too much attention to you all sitting in the woodlands car parks?
