Well mine goes in in just over 2 weeks. Got to drive the rattler to Dorset. Has not fallen apart yet, see what happens. Will contact SMC and see what they say.

I'll give my Service manager a ring tomorrow and ask him what this update was specifically and then post on here.
All i know is i had to sit and wait nearly 2hrs for it to be done, and then it didn't do jack...

Thanks mate that would be handy. mines going in for something they forgot to do the last time I could get this done as well.
the dsg update is for a catalogue of things which i couldn't remember tbh, the list includes loss of power in reverse, sudden surges of power, noise from dsg at low speeds.
i got my fr back today 
minus one dodgy dsg. so far so good (no suspect noise) we will see how it goes. finally got my car fully functional and no acoustics apart from the sweet sound of the engine....
