I have a 2.0TFSI FR DSG, and from my first three fills, it's averaging 26mpg. That's a mix of about 50% M-way, & 25% urban and rural.

yeh i got me some of that oil after seeing a number of people on here using it. and do check regulary. think i paid about £45 for 4 litre bottle.

i reckon ill be about normal, if i do longer 'clean' journeys i can get a much better average. im sure that the reason im using so much fuel is down to the nature of most of my driving (ie the commute.)

cheers rpmleon aka 'guy above' ;)

Yo Chris,

Sorry about the delay in getting back re what the on board computer says I should be getting on a full tank (Must admit I forgot to check ). Filled it tonight though in preparation for my next trog tomorrow. Anticipated milage 340

Hi Chris,

Just got back from Bebington. Topped up with BP Super Unleaded before we left. 180 miles in 2hrs 55min with the onboard computer giving me an average for the journey of 31.9mpg. Anticipated milage left in the tank now 245.

180 + 245 = 425  It would be nice but I very much doubt if it would give me that. Back to work on Wednesday so it will be interesting to see what it settles back into with my daily 20 mile round trip :(.

i have just done a trip to castleford and back (50 mile each way for me) mostly motorway and averaged about 27mpg on normal unleaded though.

whats interesting though is that by the time i got back i needed a fill up, so i filled it with super unleaded (there was 20 miles worth of normal in) and its now showing 305 miles left.
so just by putting super in its gone up by 50miles, ill have to see what it settles to when its had a couple of tanks of super.

you seem to be doing really wel though!

I've had mine since the end of Nov & covered 800 miles averaging 24MPG. 70% of that will be around town driving. I must admit & have pushed it a little harder since I passed 600 miles. Promise to be more sensible from now on & aim for 27MPG ish ! ;)

Drove around Devon over Christmas and back up to Brum on the 1st at a cruise controlled 80 and managed to get 340 miles to a tank, the most I've managed so far.

It's simple - TFSI's don't like traffic, it's a killer on economy.

I'm going to stick to Super, but probably move away from BP Ultimate as the robbing b*stards want 112p a litre.

Tending to pay between £1.08 and £1.10 at the moment for Shell or Tesco in my area. Believe it or not the car seems to like the Tesco stuff better.

Another recent thread on "Coolent" levels caused me to check mine today (for the first time :doh:!) At cold it is currently sat between "High & Low". Another fluid I intend to keep a close eye on in the future:whistle:

I tend to agree with rpmleon. The cupra prefers Tesco Super over V-Power and Tesco is usually 2p cheaper. My local tesco is 99p for 95ron and £1.04 for Super. I'm sure that will go up next week though.

OK Peeps,

With a week and a half now back at driving the daily 20 mile round trip to and from work the average MPG has dropped to 29, AND HOLDING!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, I must admit, if I probably drove it a little bit harder (i.e. more outside the permissable speed limits ;)) it would probably be less:D

That said, as a man who moved from a Seat Leon 150 TDi PD Cupra, which gave me at least 14mpg more to the gallon, I JUST LOVE THIS CAR :D :D :D

I never, ever thought I would "ever" drive an automatic car but........ once you get used to the DSG box............... IT IS A DREAM COME TRUE :D It is the first car I can seriously say that I look forward to driving every time I get in. I honestly thought that I would keep this car for a year and then trade up to the CUPRA (which I test drove extensively and which I would have originally gone for but for the 3 month delivery) but ....... my thoughts now are "ONLY IF THE CUPRA COMES WITH A DSG BOX"!!!!!!!!

Please excuse my deviation! The thread here is about mpg on a TFSI DSG (Sorry, but if my "alcoholic reading" of recent threads is right we can only now call it a "TSI" :wtf: )

My point is:

If I put "Super Unleaded" in my car (which I do (at the moment)) I am paying about the same, if not a little bit less for a litre than deisal and, based on my last deisel car, they are getting about 14mpg more than me

However, if I change to normal unleaded with an (unproven!) loss of 2mpg but a saving of approximately 5p per litre on deisel this must close the gap. Sorry I am not currently in a state to calculate it but, although petrol does not catch up, I am sure it is worthy of note.

At this time of night (morning!) I hope the above makes sense :D

Perfect sense :S :D

As a test I drove home normally on Monday night and returned my usual 28.5mpg. Tonight (Tuesday) I drove like a granny. So that's in D all the time, putting it into N at lights, coasting where possible, taking time to get up to speed and sticking to 70 on the m'way. Doing all this I managed 34.3 mpg!

All it proves is that it is possible to get SEAT's official figures, you just can't have any pleasure out of the car at all.

I'd prefer to be getting 28mpg and enjoying it, otherwise I should have bought a 206 1.4HDI

Here's a pic from yesterday after filling up with regular unleaded

19012008030.jpg

That's showing 380 miles left in the tank after a 25.8 mile journey. To be honest, I wouldn't expect to get another 380 miles but it's nice to think I could!!(if I drove like a granny maybe)

I've only used super unleaded once or twice and I never noticed anything different about the performance or mpg so I just stick to regular unleaded. I really don't think it makes any difference.

28.6mpg overall average since we got it 4 months ago (we didn't have it from new!). That's with a mixture of city driving and motorway. The girlfriend works in the city and I work 30 miles away so we have weeks about with the new car.

Seems a good overall average my friend. By the way. Wellcome to SCN. :D

OK then peeps, time for an experiment.

From new I have filled my car with "Super Unleaded" only and at 4,688 miles on the clock I have averaged 29.1 mpg (According to the on board computer:shrug:)

For the next 2 months I will use normal unleaded only and post my mpg at weekly intervals.

Please note that for this experiment I will make a determined effort "NOT" to change the way I drive. i.e. I am not a "granny driver" but I am also not a "boy racer" I anticipate:

1. A "rural" 20 mile round trip to work each day (Monday to Friday).
2. An average of 100 mile rural/motorway "shopping" trips at the week-end.
3. Over 2 months maybe three 250 mile round trips:shrug:

That said, I will fill up (brim!) with normal unleaded each Sunday and post costs, miles travelled etc. So you can all work it out for yourselves!

OK peeps. I normally run my car on "FULL" but I will now only fill up on Sunday 03 FEb 08 when I anticipate I will be almost out of fuel (i.e. out of Super Unleaded). Consequently, I will start the experiment from 2359hrs on 03 Feb 08. At this time I will post my current milage and the fact that I have filled (brimmed) up with "normal unleaded".

For anyone that may wonder what "Brimmed" means. I will fill up to the point where I can physically get no more fuel in the tank!

So, what does this all mean:

1. I am currently driving a TFSI DSG which is currently averaging 29.1mpg on Super Unleaded petrol from new.

2. From 2359hours on 03 Feb 08 I will drive the car on normal "unleaded petrol" for 2 months and post the mpg results on SCN at "approximate" weekly intervals.

3. Why? Because I can !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D
