What map do you have? I'm of the understanding that diesels boost higher anyway with regards to the boost gauge you get wat you pay for IMO auto gauge are ok but I'm investing in sone more expensive ones shortly for new gauge pod I might have a pillar pod available but depend if you Cupra or cupra R as mine cupra and the trim is creamy ocular not black

its air that has already been measured by the AFM and its worked out the fueling based on there being X amount of air in the intake system and adjusts the fueling to suit.

Problem is with BOVs they ideally need to be placed as close the throttle body as possible, which is also where the AFM cant see that air has been dumped out and adjust the fueling. So you either run slightly richer or leaner depending of the quality of the valve, for best performance recirc is the best, unless you running some crazy turbo setup with high pressures.
