Was there an early release of the leon called 'Sport' of something in this country, it had a 1.8 20vt unit but wasnt called a cupra, obviously when the car wore the multi spoke wheels it was called a cupra, but im sure there was one slightly earlier with different wheels, or is that a 1.8 20v model?

Incidentally, my Leon Cupra is a face-lift 03 model.. would that mean I'm running the K03S turbo?

question guys for app engine

i just want to get some facts straight but couldnt realy find it using the search.
I have an app engine block and the standard turbo.
The thing with the app the turbo dies out at 5600rpm.
how can i make the turbo run all the way to red line at least. Is it the engine or turbo.?
if i get the turbo changed will it run all the way red line or is it because of the app engine it self.

Cheers Guys

Get it mapped! The app engine is very similar to that fitted in the Gold IV. Main difference is no VVT and standard K03 not the Sport version. Will still map to 196bhp with a good map. Will then pull all the way to the red line.

Mines remapped by P torque some time. some time ago. Had a line up with type r at red lights with him all the way. but some times it feels if dies in some gears at high revs (past 5000rpm)

what figures did you get (BHP & Torque) from the map?

I also have a mapped APP and have 208bhp. The engine seems to run out of breath after 5500rpm because it doesnt have the vvt like the AUQ engine. After a map, filter and dv you will notice its much better.
Check you MAF regularly with this engine. Especially if you have a cone filter. Ive had the car 7 months and Im on my 3rd MAF already!

So in another words, dosnt matter what turbo is in there the car will still run out of puff at 5500rpm?
im in 3rd maf to stuck on KN typhoon filter

I've just been reading the other thread with the differences between APP and AUQ engines fitted with th K03 and K03S turbos and vvt on the AUQ.

All very interesting, i have a 2002 (prefacelift) 20vt cupra with the AUQ according to my log book, but i wasn't aware it even had vvt, there certainly isn't any marked difference in the way the car revs as you accelerate, at least not like my old honda vtec.

And yes even with this engine and K03S turbo and vvt the power does still seem to die out further up the rev scale.

Also i don't have auto dimming mirror, or any of the other toys..

other thing is! when you floaring it, from 1st to 2nd , 2nd to 3rd 3rd to 4th.
What revs does it sit out, is it over 5500 or under?

no it wont pull to the red line

mapping on the standard K03 will reduce the peak figure, due to heat soak and the K03 simply not being able to flow very well

if it cant rev to the red line as standard, how would remapping it all of a sudden change the phsyical dimensions of the turbo to then allow it to rev to the red line?:blink:

answer - it wont!

I have a ko3s turbo already fitted by previous owner? so does it mean it should boost all the way?

The K03s do rev higher yes, but not right to the red line - 7000rpm (I think its set to)

peak power tails off slightly before this, about 6600rpm i believe
