Hi guys,
I have a Seat Leon FR MK3 2016 DSG , and when i drive in eco mode , i let go of the throttle and it goes into coasting but when i press the throttle again , i get no power for a good 10/15 seconds. The car just seems like it isnt going into gear but when i change the mode to Normal or Sports mode, everything seems to be Normal. Started happening in gear 7 only in eco mode. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

Maybe just because it’s in a higher gear, and in Eco mode? Scan it for fault codes if you have a scanner, or get it checked out. 10-15s seems a bit too long, even for Eco mode.

Are you sure it’s coasting? Surely it won’t go into neutral but it will stay the highest gear possible, you may need to mash the throttle to get it to kick down. As I’ve said on here before I get best performance AND economy in sport mode although mine is a manual, car is so much more responsive so less throttle pedal action is required?

Hi Guys ,
I think i managed to find the issue. It might be the EGR flaps as one of the gets stuck. In eco mode, one of the flaps opens and closes wheras in normal and sports mode it is always open hence why the issue does not occur in those modes but in eco it opens and closes so this means it does get stuck sometimes and that is why we get no power for a good few seconds. It is an expenisive (£250 to £400 depending on mechanic) or there is an easier way where you get the car remapped and have the flap stay open during eco mode which is a way around.

In almost two years of ownership of my VW Polo GTI+ I’ve never once used eco mode 🙂.

My car regularly returns mpg figures in the mid-40’s, and I’ve seen mpg of 52-53 if I’m just going with the flow in high volume traffic at a steady speed, which IMHO is pretty good for a 197bhp 2.0 petrol engined car, with stop start switched off (I don’t like stop start).

My DQ200 DSG started making the clickety-clacking sounds when shifting, after the first time using the ECO mode. Never used it since, except in the custom mode, but then the gearbox doesn't go into neutral upon coasting. As others have said already, good MPG comes in Normal / Sport just as well.
