Hey guys. Noticed an ECU under the passenger seat couple of days ago when I put it all the way back. What is it? Looks quite loosely packaged and now very well protected.

Good call. Just surprised how it seems to be velcro'd down and it's really visible with the seat back. Might have to get something to hide it

On my 1.2 TSi I believe it's part of the stop-start system.

Pretty sure I read that on cars with stop-start it's not possible to fit a storage box under the passenger seat.

Does your FR have stop-start?

It does yeah. Surprised that's a separate ecu. Would have thought all thay would have been done in the engine ecu

It's not an ECU it's the voltage stabiliser (DC-DC converter). That's needed so the electrical equipment continues to function OK while the engine is restarting.

Actually that info comes from SSP 477 which is for an Audi A1 but the picture of the device is the same as the thing under the seat. Despite what an Audi owner would like you to believe these cars really are almost the same and my 1.2 TSi SE came with more kit and a more powerful engine than an Audi 1.2 TSi for far less money!

So, the bottom line for me is, "there goes my plan to fit seat mounted storage drawers!" to wife's new Polo that comes on Wednesday. I bought them for my B8 S4 and they are great (if you only want to a tube of Polos/Rolos etc under the seat!!!). I have just emptied the under seat storage drawers of her old 9N Polo SE, first time a human being has been near them since I filled them with lots of CDs etc about 13 years ago ( you need to squat down beside the car to get them open, not handy wifie says when you are driving!) - though if these accessories are available, it is rude not to fit them??
