Have a Leon 1.6 S Copa Ecomotive. Almost 4 years old, and only done 32,000 miles (was an ex motability car so was barley used for 3 years)

Recently went into limp mode with the glow plug lights flashing and engine management light coming on occasionally.

Service was about due, so took to the local garage and he also looked at the codes and found there was an fault with an EGR. Told me to take it for a good thrashing, so i did as best i could with the limp mode on. This eventually went off, so was able to give it some welly into the red. Also did a long drive up to Lancaster and back (to Wrexham) to clear out, but the limp mode was still coming on throughout the journey.

Is it worth taking off and clearing out the EGR valve with Wynns cleaner?

I watch wheeler dealer and they used this new method of cleaning out your engine. I think they did it on an oldish Jag and it made a big difference to the emissions. Might be worth a look!

If its like the Mk6 Golf thats in the family with the 1.6Tdi, its located behind the engine and not easy to remove.

Thankfully, its a bit easier than that. On mine, its at the front of the engine near on centre

Will give this a go tonight.

Hey, I have the glowing coil light flashing and going into limp mode all the time, tried thrashing as best I can in limp mode too. Does it work with the wynns spray in the egr valve? Been quoted £450-500 to fix with new valve etc, so wanted to try. Limited knowledge but willing to give it a go.

I put a can of wynns through my intake on my fr and then another can of holts ( cheaper by the way) . Have just taken my egr off and the crap in it was incredibly thick so it obviously didn't work that well.
