Electrical Problem

Was changing festoon in boot along with number plate bulbs today,all going great with numberplate one's,but on changing boot one i have a problem.
Seemed to be a blown fuse,but on checking(fuse no.38) ok,but all item's on it ie:bootlight,central locking/elec windows not working,along with interior lights which are on fuse 14(which again fuse ok)

Please help me............

sounds like a faulty comfort control moduale (ccm) you will find it under the steering wheel its a little black box with 2 plugs going to it

Cheers for that,had a check on this part and certainly seems a likely candidate.
Is it possible to check this item:ie if you remove and no change,presume faulty ?
Also if you replace does it require VagCom to set up keys etc ?

i just rewplaced mine and all my interior lights come back to life but now none off my central locking works or my electric mirrors so i would say yes to it needing vag com

Any idea what part no. is,or can i remove without effecting anything else meantime ?
I still have central locking for all door(but not hatch)from key activation from drivers door with key.

Checked number and it's the same...Does it have to be same part no. or would a golf part no. work ok ?

i think same part number is in golfs aswell as my new one come of a beetle

I've seen afew similar but slight digit change like ending in a c rather than f...don't know if it would make any odds.
I was thinking as long as it's a 4 door(because of 4 elec. windows & solinoids for locks)should be fine,but unsure,but you saying your's came off a Beetle has thrown that theory out the window..
I wish there was an electrics GURU on this site...

Right,got a replacement one same code,disconnected car battery and removed existing,replaced unit,reconnected battery and still nothing.
I know module requires reprogramming for all functions,just thought might have got something(like interior lights) with straight swap.
Any ideas ?

Part number on the outside might be same, the software in it might not be.
Put the other back and remove both battery terminals, touch them together and retry, trust me it's safe.

You have actually removed the fuse and looked at the metal inside it?

yeah fuse was fine,and i posted this thread to get advice,advice was get new unit.

Check fuse 5– Comfort on and off .................. 7.5 Can't think of anything else comfort will refer too

I even tried another fuse swapping it over to other location,fuse was fine in other location.

Fuse 5 okay,got it booked in in morning for VAG COM reset,hopefully that'll sort it,just on another thread,someone had said they got interior lights back just with swap.
