Emissions light come on? its a little picture of a engine PLEASE HELP

Hi guys i own a 02 cupra 1.8 20vt, and the above mentioned light has come on.. my owners book says it means excessive emissions.
Could this cause damage to the engine? is it safe to drive -- as its still driving perfect.

I had this on Sunday night, .. Would not go over 2000 Revs.

Took it straight to Qwick Fit on monday, and the problem was PART NO: COIL3003. Single Plug End Coil ??

Apparently this is not covered in the Warrenty. I only bought the car last week from a garage in Sunderland.

Any ideas of how i can claim this back??
