EML on after new egr valve fitted

Hello, just fitted a new egr valve and the EML light has come on! . The old valve had an exhaust leak but no EML light. Does it have to be put on a diagnostic to accept the new valve? Struggles to tick over now as well.

Problem was electrical plug was not quite pushed home runs fine but eml light still on, tried disconnecting battery but still on, does it need to be cleared with diagnostic?

Yeah you’ll need to get it plugged in. EML once triggered will stay on even if the fault has disappeared. It’s honestly worth just buying yourself the machine to do it, you can get them for very cheap for like 20 quid. If not you’ll have to take it to a garage or ask a friend with a machine to do it. Once cleared the light will go off, but if the light comes back on your issue is still present.
