Engine Bay Clean

Spent today cleaning the engine bay. Was needed badly as it was the only aspect of the car letting it down.

My hands and arm are cut up bad but it was worth it!

I wish mine was as clean as the before pic. Done a good job there, what did you tackle it with?

Used Autoglym engine cleaner along with brake cleaner for the stubborn bits.

Then used Armoural and Autoglym Bumper Care to bring out the shine on the hoses and plastics.

Really happy with the results.

Same here, ive been going to tackle the engine in my 1.4 for months but i aint got round to it yet due to other problems/issues.

I know it wont look the same as the gti engine but it will look better than it does now!

Electro Ted - My Inlet manifold has just come off my car - looks exactly as yours does, but i will send photos when i can. I replaced it with a polished one

Im seriously going to have to get my finger out and get my engine bay cleaned, was looking at it today during a break at work and it is honestly a mess!

I need to get in at the area by the door hinges aswell cos they aint exactly as clean as they could be!?

Everyone at work says don't do it.. too much to keep clean. But balls to it! Im doing it!

Will do the strut brace to match or maybe in black. The red has faded badly now.

Bay Polish

The manifold i have taken off is just completely standard. Polishing this badboy took me a couple of weeks - i also removed the plastic gubbings and machined some HT lead guides instead.
I have also just made a 3" stainless steel pipe to replaced the air inlet rubber pipe. i have it in brushed at the moment but i maye polish it. as soon as i have an oil breather and catch tank i will fit that too.
