Hi, I have had my 1.8 turbo scanned for a check light and been told that the problem was a camshaft position sensor and not alignment issues between the crank and cams. I have replaced the sensor and the check light is still on in the dash display. It is the case that the check light needs reset to clear the fault code.

Many thanks, Samuel.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you were able to dispher my poor typing/text in the first post. :)

I got the lend of a Torque OBD2 reader to see what the crack is. I will let you know how I get on.

I used the torque lite android and read the code but was unable to reset the check light. I tried to use the bluetooth interface with rosstech vcds lite but couldn't get it to connect.

So I'm going to try Gendan obd2 interface cable with rosstech vcds lite to see if I can read the fault and reset the check light on the dash.

I got a gendan obd2 lead and used the rosstech vcds lite software to read and reset the check light which has since came on again.

The discription for the fault code was a coralation issue between the crank sensor and camshaft position sensor.

I going to check the wiring to the sensors for continuity. I know it's futile but it has to be done. Just in casey.

I read the fault codes and came up with 16725 and 17748. I was able to get the descriptions from

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Fault_Codes

It could be a number of different things, so I'm registering my copy of VCDS-Lite in order to be able to use the measuring blocks to check the timing. If the timing is out then that's a no brainer. If the timing is okay then it's a sensor/wiring issue as is per the list of possible suspects causing the error code to surface.

I got my vcds-Lite registered but my laptop has been fannying about so have just got it running now. I am still getting to grips with the program, measuring blocks and what values to input and observe. It's only one little figure that I need to see but I'll get there in the end. My bets are on incorrectly fitted timing belt to the exhaust bank cam. We shall see.
