I think even new cars coming now out of production line, are without the engine cover. Perhaps, because it is only a matter of aesthetics, which is why they have not taken this issue seriously (not that this is an excuse).

I can't remember if it affects the 190bhp 2.0tsi but mine came with it when I picked it up a couple of weeks ago

I think it only affects the 300/310 versions.

I'm surprised that nothing has been heard about the new "Design cover", after the previous one was removed for maintenance 1.5 years ago. However, the Cupra is a great and respected car, but when you look at the engine compartment at the moment, it looks like the car's production was left badly unfinished!

Did they call you in or did you chase them? I would be surprised if dealerships are voluntarily chasing work with the massive backlog of software issues.

I had my thin plastic cover fitted a few months ago.

My local dealership still saying that my car isn't due the replacement yet, and it maybe end of '24 before all the formentor phev's in the UK have had their turn.

A new thin engine cover was installed on my Formentor on October 16, 2023 In Finland.
I'm a bit surprised by the "fabric" underneath, I hope it's fireproof?

So they can bill Cupra an hour and a half labour. If I had to guess I'd estimate a fitting time of under 5 minutes.

I had my thin plastic cover fitted a few months ago.

They called me! Johnsones Cupra / Seat in Liverpool. Been impressed with them so far.

I have asked the importer several times when a new cover will be available since they removed it! Then I got an e-mail message from the dealer saying that the cover is now available? I don't know if I was the only one who got it?

Just had the first service on my Formentor and before I mentioned it the dealer told me that the new engine cover would be fitted at the same time.

That's right, now all Formentor owners contact the dealer and insist that a new "design engine cover" must be obtained !!!

Just got mine fitted last week (245TSI) after getting the car last May with no cover at all. It`s a sh***y plastic cover with some insulation on the back from the same material as the bonnet insulation. Not branded at all, part number 06Q I03 925 N, the exact same one as Skoda which leads me to believe...Did they just took the Skoda cover instead of designing a new, SAFE one and call it a day? That definitely sounds like VAG.

Will all due respect it’s an engine cover, not a work of art, so does it really matter what it looks like and whether or not it’s branded? Most of the time it’s never seen - just when lifting the bonnet to carry out regular fluid level checks - and based on what I’ve read on some forums, some owners never even lift the bonnet / check their fluid levels, so never see the engine cover.

Cost efficiencies by using an unbranded cover means that the same cover (or covers - I think there are different versions depending on engine power output) can be used across the various VAG brands.
