for ages my engine was hunting on idle ( bouncing up and down on its own )
so i tried to sort it by cleaning up the throttle body, now my car idles at about 1100 rpm and yesterday i went to pull off and had no throttle at all.
any ideas?
desperately need help.

let the engine idle, and get under the bonnet and listen for air leaks, like a hissing sound

Leon S - has had a new MAF sensor and throttle body fitted. No fault codes present. ECU has been refurbished and tested OK. Engine now hunts on starting and gets progressively worse as the car warms up. There are no apparent air leaks and all of the gaskets and seals appear OK.
Anyone have any ideas as to what to do next (be kind!)

if the car is heavily modified, i.e. n249 removal / bypass, catch cans fitted, pcv removed, these engines tend to do this after being modified

Mine does the same and sites around 7-800, hunts every now and then, but nothing shows up on VAG COM, everything has been replaced that meets the eye.

No leaks though! ......
