Hi guys,

I've been trying to make a big decision over the last few weeks.
The loan I have to pay off on my car is due with in 2 years or so. So from now and then I'm deciding whether to add any other mods (expensive and body work altering). Or don't get any more mods and save for a new car.

I love the shape of this car, but I only have a 1.4 16v engine. So before I decide to do any thing drastic like adding arches, or messing around with body kits for the first time, what engine would I be able to put in it?

I know many of you hear the word body kit and turn your noses up, but I'm just looking to make this car one of a kind.

For me it wouldn't be worth jt unless you did it for a r32 engine of similar because could probs sell yours add a grand and get the turbo model of yours. Just my opinion tho. Fair play to you tho it's a big job

In this day and age almost anything is possible with enough time and money.
They put the TT-RS engine in the new Polo, so that will fit (with enough time and money) in the Ibiza and that's potentially a 500+bhp 4wd Ibiza.

TBH, If what you want is a faster Ibiza, it's probably easier to get a black Cupra and start again isn't it?

Any money you could spend on mods to your car, would be much better put towards the loan you currently have and get it paid off quicker.

Then just buy a faster car when the time comes

as said above i was contemplating making my 1.4 sport faster but then it will work out far to much money so in the end i sold the ibiza and got a mk2 leon fr tfsi dsg and its only 300 more a year to insure yet has over double the power :) lol

and now i am making this one faster as im a nightmare lol being set up for stage 2 as we speak

Ah yeah I can understand it becoming very exspensive. I'm not looking to sell for a faster car yet because I'm enjoying the fact I have just got the insurance down to £600.
I'm worried about making modifications to the body work as it might make it difficult to sell?

And the other reason I was looking at an engine swap if the face that I have already done a fair bit to this car. It would seem like a waste of money if I was to sell up and get a different car. I am half way through the audio build as well. Which will all come out when I sell the car.

As an average price, if I was to go for a 1.8 or 2L turbo. What sort of price would I be looking at labour wise?

problem you have is putting bigger engine in means bigger brakes and if you were putting a 2.0t in the car i would do disc brakes all round not shitty drums on back

when i looked at a engine conversion on my old corsa c i was looking at putting a vxr engine in it and got quotes of 3500+ and that was for engine gearbox loom ecu suspension upgrades to fit it all plus then needing big brakes and then labour on top

to make it more expensive is you start doing more mods to your car to declare them will cost fortune (if crash and not declared insurance may not pay out)

for me to insure my ibiza this year with optional front bumper coilovers induction kit and wheels worked out 1700 yet standard they wanted 700 and now i pay just over 1k for the leon

you will have more issues trying to sell the car once done major work onto it and wont get money back may be batter doing what i did and sell ibiza standard and make more money back with bits you have done or buy a faster ibiza and transfer the mods over as will save you fortunes
