Exeo 2.0TDi 170 "DPF"

I know that the whole issue if Diesel particulate filters has been brought up on the site quite a few times.. and I have read some useful advice...

As I am due to order a new Seat Exeo 2.0TDi 170 at the weekend, I was just wondering if any owners on the site, have had issues with the DPF? with the warning light etc?

I am aware that the system regenerates itself, and this is helped by the way the card is driven, I also believe that a lot of short stop start journys can casue problems, but I think that as I live out in a village, and no matter were I go is about 10 miles of national speed limit roads, I should hopefully be OK...

I did post in the Ibiza section and recived a couple of replies, but as this is aimed at Exeo's I though I would ask here;)

The dealer that will be supplying the car has been helpful, and basically told me to use the car as a "sport 170 " was designed, as a performance diesel.... not to be driven round at 30mPH and 1500 rpm all day...

Any EXEO related advice you can give will be appreciated

Sorry sounds like BS. This is not an air cooled F1 car.

Not had any problems with mine (2.0TDI 170) but have only done 2500 miles in it so wouldn't really have expected any trouble yet!

Not seen or heard any faults with the dpf system on the new exeo and a certain tuning company has reported that the dpf works 10 times better than previous versions on earlier models.

Thanks for the replies, that makes me feel a little better :)

I know whilst doing a search, most faults seem to be on earlier cars, most posts are between 2007-2009 maybe they have finally got things together with better oil and fuel to produce less soot...

Car is being ordered on Saturday.... pity it is going to take about 3 months to come with all the options I am fitting...

I really do not think there is going to be a major issue at all now that the dpf system has come. Besides, I only think that the dpf looks much refined and efficient in the new like the Exeo so I really do not think there is going to be much of an issue regarding this. Besides, if at all there was an issue they would have certainly reported it which, however is not the issue thereby concluding the new DPF system is always better than earlier cars!

I’ve also heard only good things about the DPF system so I don’t think you’ll have any problems with your car!! A friend of mine has a 140 Sport and he has absolutely no hassles with it and but it is good that you are checking it out – after all it is a heavy investment!!

Im inclined to agree, the first 170 I had was with the PD pump system [plus remap] and although it did not give me problems there was alway doubt in my mind with what was on the Leon 1P forum - I was lucky !. Least with the CR system it was built for it not like the PD unit where the DPF was added AFTER the event !!

I've done almost 20k miles in mine and the light has never come on. My commute to work is a short hop along the motorway and the car barely gets warm in that time.

Hi, I am a believer in avoiding fuel with any BioDiesel content, only basic Shell diesel has gone in mine and considering it has only done 4,500 miles in 11 months, 3,500 of which have been sat in Stafford traffic twice a day. I fill up once a month and give it a good 20 mile run above 2,000 rpm to clear any cobwebs and it has been fine. I am reading stories of dpf problems on the 1.6CR engine though. Julian

You've nothing to worry about, just relax and enjoy. Of all the things you're buying into with a Seat, I'd be more worried about getting a good experience from the dealers...
