you got any pics mate?

No mate.

I got the exhaust place to heat wrap it for me before fitting it.

I can take some though over the weekend

I've got some black heat wrap that I'm going to wrap my neuspeed intake in as well

That'd be something to do with them being so poorly designed and having the exhaust routed in such a stupid frigging place that they overheat at the drop of a pin and melt everything in sight if they're not properly insulated.

Japanese shite.

In all honesty the reason I had my downpipe wrapped was because they said they'd wrap it for free for me....... I'd have done it afterwards myself anyways.

As for wanting to wrap my intake- after a long drive the other day I was under the bonnet doing a bit of bay tidying...... I touched the Intake pipe and it was fairly warm.

So I'm saying a bit of heat wrap on the intake won't do any harm! Can't moan at £10 for 10m x 30mm of the stuff.

To be fair... (I'm not a jap fan) But VWAG made a poor design when they placed the inlet directly above the outlet, on the 1.9tdi engines, I know it's a diesel but surely you'd cross flow it like the 2.0Tdi? I might being dense here so go easy!

On topic.. I herd exhaust wrap influences cracking or is that BS?

nobodys bothered about diesels.

thats a good point though, I think I'll leave wrapping it for the first few thousand miles see how the welds hold up.

I'm bothered about diesels? I'd imagine with companies like Darkside being constantly busy there's a few people who are...

But yeah I read about cracking somewhere, if I could I'd love to get my stuff ceramic coated.

Heat wrap/Exhaust wrap has been known to cause cracking on cast iron and mild steel exhaust systems , not so much on good quality stainless or titanium though.

Heat wrap/Exhaust wrap to keep heat in, silver or gold insulation to keep heat out.

Just chuck a sheet of asbestos between exhaust and inlet

I can say that out of the millions of pd units in use that that's never been an issue.
