Exhuast querie..

on the Mk2 Ibiza's .. is the rear exhuast hanger *Rubber* a dealer only part??
mine seems to be stretched and its causing the box to vibrate, and is really annoying at time... Ive looked on 'Vag-Cat' and it shows it on there as a 'complete unit '

Hi Mate,

The Rubber is bolted to the hanger and is one piece only. Bolts onto the chasis via two tap bolts. I know this because ive just replaced mine with 2 shiney new magnex ones.

Be carefull not to strip the heads when removing them. I ended up grinding off and drilling the last bolt out.

dealer= dealer ( *affectionately known as due to price hikes*)... certain parts can only be purchased through dealers.. but it seems the part I need CAN be purshased elsewhere too..

halfrauds sell them, universal rubbers of different sizes, just find the one thats the closet/best for you

but are they on the clamp, too Dolly ? I can get the rubbers from the local exhuast place but the one on the Ibiza are a 'complete' thing ...

i dunno, is there not a clamp on the exhaust and then one on the body, both joined by a rubber? i havent ever looked at mine so i wouldnt know

nahh... the clamp that bolts to the body has the rubber already on it as an integral part if you like!?!?! it then just has the 'holes' in to *push-fit* onto the hanger thats weled to the back box..

Im not sure if im thinking of the right part but is it the rubber thing that the back box hooks on to? Mine split awhile back and it got replaced by one for a transit. So (if we're talking about the same part) you dont need to get it from the stealers.

just stick a jubilee clip round the rubber & crank it up short term

cable ties will do the trick to

cable ties might melt from the heat. Better to use a hose clip. You could cut the old rubber off and hose clip a new universal rubber to the bolted clamp.

Mork, did that on my old Mk2 .. stopped the rattles dead.. in fact , it did SUCH a good job, im tempted to do it to the Cupra, too..
