I have it and I have used it, well worth the money IMO.

I initially called Seat Assist (free with my service) so they came out to try and diagnose the car on the driveway. They said it was better to get the car recovered so they arranged a recovery truck then a hire car, all sorted within a couple of hours. The car was sorted really quickly at the dealers (prob because Seat were paying for a hire car by the day) with no cost to me.

If you price some of the main parts, the warranty is worth the money if something goes wrong.

For all component cover for 1 year I have been quoted £236.78 but mileage may come into it. I have done 18k in 3 years.

In the last 32 years I have had no car mechanical problems and bike for 5 years before that, and that is how warranty companies make money, very rarely does a failure happen. 32+ x £236/400 or whatever (£7552+ - 12800+) is now waiting in my bank to pay for any future problems. Put the amount away in a bank account each month instead and statistics say you will probably never need it. PS I have had all SEAT cars since 1996 too, so nothing drastic with reliability there.

Best to take it out well before the original warranty expires. I left it until near the expiry date and the cost jumped hugely. Rang them up and they said it was a software glitch and reduced the cost to the original quote

If you are close to expiry but not beyond it maybe worth a call

I'm now able to get a quote on the Seat extended warranty website:

£0 Excess. Less than 15k miles. All Parts - £636 per year. That's a 280 Cupra.

I've then read all the T&C's twice and i'm not convinced this is the way forward (for me anyway). This is also with me having a new Gearbox/Clutch at 30k miles. I just have a feeling they're going to be brilliant at getting out of anything! Then if they do get out of it you've got to cover the costs, then obviously pay to get fixed with them or elsewhere.

Ok Here are my numbers for all items (not limited) for a 1.2TSi with less than 17000 on the clock.

XS £0 £236 rose to £357 when SEAT warranty had expired
XS £100 £216 rose to £313 when SEAT warranty had expired
XS £250 £160 rose to £258 when SEAT warranty had expired

Mileage, engine size are factors and also note that exclusions are for wear and tear (always a point of argument) and sat /nav entertainment system

Genuine SEAT Parts and Accessories.
