Extrude honing recomendations ?

Hi Guys,

I need to find a decent outfit who can carry out quality extrude honing of my intake manifold.

Can anyone recommend someone to me ?

The guy my tuner uses charges silly money IMO, & although I havent inquired about this project I was quoted a huge figure to flow the head when the car was in bits last year.

I would also like to get the exterior finshed in like a black chrome or anodised black with some text cnc'ed on to the top part. Anyone has any advise on this it would also be welcome.

Hi mate,

The only guys I found were Extrude Honing (I think that's what they're called) in MK, who wouldn't do one-offs at the time.

I don't think it's a common process, so I doubt there's anyone else that does it.

Thanks for the link I did look at there site after googling "extrude honing" !

Shame they wont do one offs although I reckon I could get a few interested parties together for this.

Maybe they would do 3 or 4 perhaps.....

I will give them a call on Monday.

10 years in engineering and I'd never heard of extrude honing. Or abrasive flow machining for that matter.

Totally forgot to call them today doh !

I have heard extrude honing can improve flow on the 1.8T manifold by around 15%, so worthwhile if the costs are not too silly.
