Fan behind glove box

I have a 2014 Toledo Tsi. This evening after parking up I switched the engine off and was about to get out when I noticed a noise from the passenger footwell. It sounds like a fan that’s about to fail, located behind the glovebox. I’ve had the car since new and never heard it before.

Does anyone have an idea on what this might be and is it normal for it run after the keys are removed from the ignition. It did stop after 5-10 mins.
