Hey all, I know this is a common fault but I’m pretty sure my low speed fan resistor is dead as the fans only work on high speed (97 degrees or air con on).

What part is it that actually needs replacing to fix the resistor? Is it just the fan itself?

I know I should bypass the original resistors and add my own in but I hate wiring. Also the fan bearing is making a load of noise so I need to replace it anyway.

Car is a 2004 Leon Cupra auq

As you're aware, its a particularly common issue on these cars.
Unless you're quite capable at wiring modifications id steer clear of the resistor route. That doesnt guarantee itll work as the motor might be fried anyway.
Id strongly advise full replacement, new ones are pretty expensive though so in which case I can offer you good used and tested items at a fraction of the cost.

I take it that’s it’s also a bit of a gamble replacing just the larger fan and hoping that it’s the resistors in that one?

What parts have you got for sale?

Haha I know that, I recognise you from eBay, bought some bits off you before.

On second thought I might have to pass on the fans unless you'd be able to post them as you’re 3-4 hours away from me.

Might grab some little bits off you when I’ve got a bit of spare money for bits to tidy the car up.
