yep, common as muck.
On the Leon both fans should run slowly with the air con on so that air is drawn across the aircon rad.
trouble is the low stage fails either in the fan itself or the controller (?) which then causes the high speed system to kick in to satisfy the aircon demand. Problem is the high speed draws alot of current and blows the fuse on the battery meaning you have no fans at all!!!
If your fans run very noisy every 20 seconds or so with aircon on then it needs sorting!
Mine did it and it needed new fans.

if the fans pulsate rather than spinning slowly when the aircon is turned on then they are buggard i'm afraid.they should run constantly at a slow speed.

Yes, it's still in warranty (just over 2 years old), but I don't like going to JCT600!!!.
I heard there was a new dealer opening in Huddersfield soon, so I might hang on for a bit

Thanks for your help though:)

Glad I saw this thread, I've been listening to my fans come on and off every couple of minutes on my journey into work. Pondering whether it has always been like that and I just hadn't noticed

First thing I did as I got to work today, phone the dealer and book it in on Friday :funk:

Mine does this too - problem started last year in summer. When I switched the engine off with the air con on there was a strange vibration/noise - knew it was a cooling thing as the engine wasn't running, but now I know why!

Just have to add it to the ever-growing list of things to fix at imminent service...

Has anyone got anywhere with this? My dealer said there was nothing wrong with the fan at service today, but it's been doing the same thing with the fan for 6 months now. Obviously it depends on the ambient temp which at the moment is cool, hence it's less of a problem. I'm pretty disappointed it didn't get picked up, but is it possible for the fans to be ok and the control unit to be buggered?

Took mine down to the new Seat dealership in Huddersfield today and they've booked it in for 2 new fans fitting under warranty on friday:)
Must say it was quite refreshing to go into a helpful dealership, there also going to replace all the R badges too:funk:
