Hi there, new to the forum, came across this one over other forums and popped up on google.

Just looking for any thoughts or knowledge on the 2 fault codes listed in the title, just doing work on my cousins car with a very basic code reader thats giving me they fault codes with a description of a Crankshaft - Camshaft Correlation and mentions also Bank 1, Sensor A.

Its a 2010 Seat Leon 1.4 TSI with 41000 miles on the clock, been sitting for about 4-5 months in a garage and never had this fault until it was started up again for its MOT, performance wise it idle's OK and drives fine, done a quick oil change with a flush put through it and used Duratec 5w30 Oil in it and did have a go at replacing the Camshaft sensor as it's a t30 bolt and can be done in 5 seconds, (although it made it worse and brought up epc light I changed it back to original).

I know its a possibility of the Chain stretching etc, but just wondering if anyone else has encountered these fault codes and how they went about it, as I dont want to strip down the chain if I dont have to at the side of his house !

Any help at all is appreciated, thanks

i had a timing chain problem which manifested itself after an oil change. luckily it was done under guarantee. i had a 1.2 tsi and i could tell it was gone as it sounded very rough on cold idle. this went away once at operating temperature but needless to say, its something that had to be replaced. skoda did the chain, tensioner and runners on my 1.2 tsi and told me it was a very common fault on 2010 and older models, this of course only after they agreed to do the work as beforehand they wouldn't admit to anything and told me that at 2 years and 2 months old, my car is no longer new! i forced the issue and luckily it got done, but learned elsewhere that the problem can reoccur on each oil change as the chain is then suspended in the air and can stretch.

I did have my suspicions it was gonna be a timing issue, and I can imagine they wouldn't want to admit anythin they never do ! Thanks for the info anyway, may as well bite the bullet and look into whats involved in doing it then I suppose. At least you got it done in warranty then as I can imagine it will be around the 100 mark for timing chain and tensioners plus whatever labour charges they would try and hit you with ....
