Fault codes P0106 and P0170

Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone could diagnose or help with my issue. My 07 Ibiza decided to play games with me the other night. Driving steadily at around 30-40 and my engine management light and epc light came on. Complete loss of power and acceleration from throttle even with pedal to floor. Had the car hooked up to an AA diagnostics and given P0106 and P0170 fault code.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haha that did make me chuckle. Thanks your reply. From what I have seen which is pretty limited with both codes showing, I'm guessing it has something to do with the throttle sensor at the moment.

I'd start by inspecting and possibly cleaning the MAP and MAF sensors, sounds like they could be the culprit(s).

Had a look yesterday and yes it was the MAP sensor. It was a tad dirty which was most likely causing interference. We've cleaned it and fitted it back to the vehicle and so far so good. Car is running smoother than ever now.

Good enough, what engine is that you have? I took the MAP sensor out of my wife's Polo with a BBY engine and replaced it with a secondhand ebay one, but I should really put the original one back in as I've cleaned it and it is a modified version, ie newer than the ebay sourced one. One other thing to do might be to clean up the throttle body and the EGR valve port that is nearby. To do much with the throttle body, you really have to finish off with a body adaption, but you need VCDS or similar to do that. If you have a BBY engine you might even after doing all that, start using Shell Nitro (V-Power) - I've found that engine does improve if you use that fuel, though it shouldn't!
