Hey there!

To my surprise, a friend of mine knows a mechanic who actually has a canbus vag-com cable and uses it on VWs and Audis all the time.

I'm probably paying him a visit tomorrow and having a couple of things done:

1) Current speed in KM/H and large font (like in Golf Mk6)
2) Lock key roll windows up (where you don't have to keep holding the lock button for windows to roll up)
3) Deactivate cornering lights (because my fog lights keep coming on when I turn right or left or use turns signals)
4) Emergency Brake Flash
5) Beep when locking/unlocking car
6) Switch on lights when walking towards car
7) Coming home and leaving home (I know one of them can be activated in the MFD, but the other has to be activated using VAG-COM so it would appear in the MFD)
8) Gauge/needle sweep

Any other ideas/suggestions or things to add to that list?

I'm going to order a cheap VAG-COM cable online but it'll take at least three weeks to arrive so I want to do these things for the time being.

Thank you!

p.s before anyone says it, I went through almost all pages of the VAG-COM thread in the FAQ section. :D

Passenger Door Mirror dip when reverse gear is engaged. Seems to be available on some models/years but not others so may not work.

Fog lights as DRL's (if you don't have DRL's).

Hazard lights flashing when you emergency brake.

1. Very cool i done this
2. I tried to do this but apparently not possible let me know if you mange it
3. a lot of people have done this but i actually like them
4. would have thought this would be on as standard
5. can get a bit irritating after a while
6. if you have auto lights you can do this via the MFD, thou will only come on when dark, also i switched mine from main beam to sidelights and fog's (have you tried leaving the lights in the on posistion ? )
7. both these functions show on my MFD so would have thought the same for you
8. very cool

I have tried to activate the close windows when it rains function but its another i cant get to work

@Redemption, thank you! That's a very great suggestion. My Dad has it in his car and it's very cool. I'll try it. Would you happen to have the code for it?

@LeonCR thank you for your reply.

5. are you talking about the beep?
6. I don't have autolights, unfortunately. I also have HIDs in both the fog lights and dipped beam so they'll take a while to warm up. I'll have him set it to sidelights.
7. not absolutely certain. will see tonight.

5. Corrected that lol sorry
6. Try leaving your lights on and take the key out the ignition, does it make any noise ?
7 worth checking

Most if this has been detailed in other threads already. DanGB ha a sticky in the mk2 FAQ section , posted about 5 years ago too.

Would also like to know if you can change the total close to one press i have to fold my mirrors in where i live and it does my head in having to hold the button

Nothing to do with model, you need memory seats for it to work. :)

I'm not sure if its just memory seats... I think it needs a combination of seats, upgrade sound system, media system, and convenience pack. To be honest it's not that great anyway as its too slow. Okay if you are calmly parking up outside your house, not when you need to park up quickly and I found it actually to be annoying in some situations where you just need to reverse and not park. As for the rain sensing windows ... Make sure you tick the option in the mfd screen once you activate it via vcds :)

Also forgot to mention about the emergency lights flashing when you brake hard. You can set it up either one of two ways, or even both.

I believe the default option on SEAT cars is to have the hazard lights flash, but you can also make the brake lights flash quickly (I've only ever seen this once, on an oldish Audi).

Obviously, pretty hard to test to see if they're working though :D

I have activated the brake flash, but I have no idea if it has worked :p Maybe I will have to get someone to follow me from a distance while I brake hard haha

I decided to get the cable because the professional I was supposed to visit keeps cancelling on me and giving me excuses. I've enabled lots of features and thankfully they all work except for a couple:

1) Leaving Home
2) Reverse gear mirror down

I already had Coming Home in the MFD settings and set to 10secs, and now I have Leaving Home set to 10secs but they both don't work for some reason. I tried leaving the switch light on the dipped beam, then on the sidelights, and I am going to try leaving it on both the sidelights AND fog lights soon but at any case they don't work at all. Is it because I don't have the OEM projector lens (automatic) head lights? But if so, then why did I have the Coming Home function on the MFD by default anyway?

Thanks guys. By the way, VAG-COM is awesome!

leaving home you need lights set to auto and then when you unlock the car the lights come on if dark enough and coming home you need to flash your main beam with lights in auto position when parked up
