Had the boc out on the drag strip at crail. Had my 18 year old son with me as co pilot but he ended up with a better time than me! He was on his own as well...
MAde a few vids which i'll compile and upload to share.

Few surprises at the end of the vid too ;-)

What did you find to be the best technique to get the DSG off the line

from my experience its S Mode with TCS on, but looking at the video he has TCS off as their was smoke in one of the runs from the tyres

what have you guys found the best procedure for starting on the strip with DSG? without launch control you cant keep your foot on the gas and brakes atthe same time with the DSG engaged can you?

reference the focus RS my octavia vRS with 280Hp could keep with a focus RS all day long and that weighed 1470kg. with 230-240 in the vRS or Cupra you wil have the same power to weight ratio but with the DSG advantage so you would definitely have the advantage

My ST was stage 2 with 291hp. that was easily enough to play with the FRS all day. The mountune ST was only something like 285hp and that had the legs on the FRS as well. dont forget its a big heavy car,

Tried a few different combinations but the best seemed to be S mode and TCS off but it was hard to tell as i didnt keep tabs on what settings i had on what runs! :(

Anyway it was just a bit of fun for us, we had a good day away and didn't have to help with housework so it was worth it! :D

Yeah that is wierd tbh. I have driven the RS and it doesn't feel like it has 300hp strangely which is why it can put that power down so well. I quite fancy a shot at one now once I have stage 2 hehehehehehehe

Sadly the MK2 Focus RS is not 309bhp as some enthusiastic Fordophiles say, or anywhere near it. Ford have been how can I put this, "Generous" in thier estimates but it does seem to vary form car to car. My friend has one and he has 279 at the fly wheel. 60 plate lux pack 2 and completely standard. Some coming out of the box are just short of the magic 300 but not many, from what I have seen and heard.
Our Mk1 we have is 240bhp with the small amount of work I have done to it, plus the work done by the previous owner.

WOW! So essentially the RS is not all it's cracked up to be? Now a RS500 would be interesting hehehehehhehehe

It can be with some additional work. It does go like stink, but my mate Alex was a little crestfallen to say the least. He has now shelled out for the Motune and his does now go like he has a rocket strapped to his arse! My old ST was 265bhp, once you got it moving, the launch always seemed not slow but laboured, it went like a train but I do have to say I still prefer our Boc or the RS for pure fun and driveablility.

The cupra/boc seems to be in its element around the 0-100mph mark, but anything over that it starts to run out of steam... This is why they do put down good 1/4 times. From experience that’s what I have found, and on anything over a 1/4mile i think it would start struggling personally. But I love my boc, just really wish I could fork out for the stage 1 remap

i never said that it doesn’t, but the torque’y pull you get from bigger cars does drop off, where as something like a astra vxr or st/rs really begins to get into its stride, also with having the extra weight on its side makes acceleration slower for them incorporation to our lighter weight cars.

But then again ive never been in a remapped cupra/boc and I can imagine them been a lot better. Need to save some pennies but times are hard at the moment.

ive had my car up to 130mph on autobahn with fully loaded boot of scuba gear and my gf next to me it pulled well upto 130 and it had sooo much more to give but i think my gf was about to have kittens so i slowed down :(
