Fitting gas struts to bonnet?

tried this today, and kind of failed,

the strut has to fix into the ball but its on too much of an angle for this to work so i modified the way its works and went the oem solution

i still used the plates, 20x50mm, welded the nut on the back,

how ever i went through the hinge

heres the hole

after that to allow the strut to come down you have to trim this piece

install upside down

i also trimmed the rubber 1/2"

this is it fitted up, no more bonnet stay :D

the struts are off an audi a4 13" long, while they hold the bonnet they dont lift it, so i need something stronger which i can have made by a company :)

Looks great, I would prefer them hidden than coming from the front of the bay. Might have to look into this
