Kirkcaldy!!
Hello Everybody,

So, I have bought a 6 months old Seat Leon SC FR 184 :) after 112k trouble free miles in my Fabia VRS but after two weeks of ownership, whilst the other half was driving, the glow plug light started to flash :censored:

I spoke to the SEAT Assist Technician guy who guaranteed it will be an erroneous fault which will self cure itself by the next time it is turned on. Most likely a sensor glitch taking it above or below defined parameters.

I trust it may perhaps not be present after a restart but surely this shouldn't be doing this sort of stuff; I mean, is everyone else's car doing the same?

Many thanks,

Si

AA man came said 'P0236 turbo charger boost sensor circuit' faulted but told other half it's safe to drive to the Seat garage in limp mode, oh but before that, the knob told her these Seats are plagued with faults and we should have bought a Ford.

Very helpful when you have a 6 month old Seat in the drive.

Now another AA vag technician is on his way because I'm not confident its safe to drove down the motorway and want it picked up.

I would be informing Seat that their nominated rescue service provider is advising people to go buy another brand - they won't be too impressed with that.

Most defiantly will be.

Seat assistance booked a vw tech but a regular guy turned up; said they will order another vw tech who will have a silver van not orange, lo and behold, same guy in an orange van turned up but had spoken to the be tech. I Dont think SEAT are getting their moneys worth.

I read the guys story who lost his coolant and phoned SEAT and got an exceptional service. I had high hopes.

Hopefully it will be a quick fix.

Boost pressure sensor gave up the ghost in mine after 2000 miles, had an overnight stay with the dealers 2 other cars were in with the same fault. Crawley Seat said it was fine to drive in limp mode.

Interesting; can you remember if your EML light was on too, with the flashing glow plug light?

The AA man in attendance was unplugging my sensors and then 'hot plugging' them when the engine was on and the EML light is on now too and in limp mode. I think he made it worse, well certainly worse until I get the faults cleared from the system.

Car is still stuck in the drive because I am not confident driving it to the garage at the moment and they can't get me a low loader only a transit to tow it [:@]

Yep the engine management light was on and the cruise control light went from grey/green (off/on) to amber. They couldn't get it in for a week and said it was fine to drive for that time.
Bit embarrasing tootling about but when i got her back...;)

I had the same issue with my car (having done 12,800 miles) and the boost sensor was replaced just like in Digistat's case. The symptoms were similar for me, at first only the glow plug light started flashing and car went into limp mode and I couldn't use cruise function either as that went amber. Then EML light came on and stayed on after the car was restarted a couple of times when the SEAT Assistance guy was diagnosing the fault.

The service I received from SEAT Assistance was fantastic though, he did a thorough diagnosis at my work place with his VAS device and when he narrowed the issue down to the g31 pressure sensor he couldn't test further due to lack of tools in his van so he said that the car would need to go to the SEAT Dealer. By the time he had finished it was about 17:30 so he arranged a courtesy car for me which I could pick up when I dropped my car off at the Dealers the next day (part of the SEAT Assistance service you can get a courtesy car for up to 3 days if your car needs to go into Dealer for repair)

He said that it is ok for me to drive the car in limp mode (as the engine is self protecting itself) so I drove it home and then to the dealers the next day with no problem albeit my top speed was limited to about 55 mph so driving on the motorway was fun! lol

Picked up the courtesy car as promised at the Dealers and the car was fixed and back with me 3 days later as they had to order the part in. So all in all I would say I received great service from SEAT Assitance and the Dealer although shame I had to call upon their services so soon. I did had a similar issue with my previous A3 TDI where the boost sensor was replaced but that was at 80k miles.

Hope you get your car fixed soon OP.
