I had this on my mk4 R32... The key reader itself had gone down, if it's the same as the Leon setup wise it surrounds the ignition barell underneath the steering cowls.

Just looked in owners manual it says its the electronic im mobilizer, will write what it says about it " when switching the ignition on, the data from the key is automatically processed. This procedure is confirmed by the warning lamp lighting up briefly.

If an unauthorised key is used the pilot light will flash continuously and the vehicle cannot be started "

I would check the micro chip that's in the key as that is what de-acticivates the immobiliser when the key is put into the ignition , sorry cannot be of any further help

i only have one key, i went in work at 10 and came out at 6am to find it wont start.

the reciver thats around the barrel, ive replaced one of these on my old vts and i was able to use any from another saxo , will this apply to the leon? as it only reads the code on my key , also if it needs recoding, will it have to go to seat? ive got the key apart here and the little green glass transponder is connected to some small copper wire or something? and held firmly in place.

can a bad earth cause this problem at all? as i noticed the earth ontop of the engine that goes to the coil packs has a slight nick on it and the cable has gone all crappy

step dads taking me to scrap yard to try and get a new transponder ring for the barrel and to try and sort this out,. ive had nothing but hassle and bills with this car, my nissan almeria 1.6 never had 1 single problem in 3 years , think its time to pick something practical over power now again.

i had a quick look at the reciver part but couldnt look properly as the plastic was still in place, it look as if the cable went direct into reciver, i thought its suppose to have a connection on it?

if it was anything to do with the reciver part do you need to replace the full barrel as i hear its built in?

another thing, is the EPC light suppose to be on when the key is in the ignition?

i have 4 lights on

EPC
immobilizer
engine masnagment ( was already on )
battery light

Yes it is look for the screws around and under the steering wheel area. you may also have to remove the fuse box cover and the screws there cannot remember 100%

so far the whole front is removed, the clocks was removed to check the connections but ive put them back in now. i removed the top half but the bottom half seems to have screws behind the wheel its self!

does any body know were the transponder reciver cable goes to? theres a black box behind were the fuses sit but it has 2 plugs with loads of cables on it

this is the only box i can see , the one with a brown plug and another plug next to it
