Went to show my uncle the Ibiza the other night, when I was turning round he noticed the fog lights were off on 1 side, then came back on. I thought this is abit strange, so thought I'd investigate what it's for! After investigation the SEAT website says this:

'The sharp-looking headlights of the SEAT Ibiza SC will make heads turn wherever you go. But there's more to them than that: The front fog lights have cornering function - meaning that, when necessary, they focus automatically on the direction that the vehicle is heading in order to offer you the safest journey possible. Want to be a step ahead of the rest and see what's going on around the next corner? The SEAT Ibiza SC takes care of that.'

Never heard of, or seen it on any other car before, has anyone else?

Just thought this info might be interesting!

try searching the forum mate, and look in the faqs section, there is loads of stuff on it lol

Ive had mine turned off and other people have to as they are annoying as hell i think, useless too

Havent noticed it yet, as haven't really done much driving in the dark!

The point most people come to, is you can't notice it, even in the dark. This is why alot of people, me included think it's a waste of time. It makes it look like you've got one bulb not working so some people get the function turned off completely, which if I'm right you can do with Vagcom software but not by pressing any buttons etc. in the car.

IMO 2 reversing lights would have been much more useful than the cornering fogs. SEAT should take note of customer feedback :p

Why useless?? They give low level close lighting when performing manouvers.. In lanes I often turn my fogs on with full beam for the completeness of light they give!

I find them very useful as I have to park next to a small, and at night I wouldn't be able to see the corner if it wasn't for these.

Don't see how people find them annoying as you can't see them when you're in the car.

You been pulled over by them?

I've had quite a few drive past me, everytime I think 'Here we go...' and get nothing. Yet I've heard quite a lot of stories about them.

No issue with being pulled over here, police might be wise to what they actually are in about 10, or 15 years time.

Definitely a useful feature :D

I'd love to be able to turn auto wipers off though!!!!!!!

In nearly two years of owning the Ibiza, I have never had any bother from plod about the lights. Fingers crossed you wont either.
Plus They did save me from clipping a particularly high kerb in a poorly lit motorway services late one night, so they can be usefull ;)

I had a.traffic cop sat in front of me when I was parked up in a car park. I go to turn out of my space and the light comes on, to which he tells me to turn my fogs off. I explained they where cornering lights and basically got told to stop arguing or I was getting a ticket. So dropped down to sidelights and went on my way. The mood I was in I was probably going to get in,trouble if I pulled the manual out haha

Probably a good move on your part, sometimes with the law even when your right you are wrong and it is futile trying to argue!

Does it not say in the manual about cornering lights. I would have been a total c**t about that (and will be if I ever do get pulled for it) - offer a demonstration, pretty obvious and easy to prove.

No hatred for police here at all  patronising pricks.

I also only just found out about these but one thing I wasn't prepared for was this;
When I go into reverse with my headlights on, my front fogs also come on?? I rang my dealer and asked about this and he told me that this was a common problem with Ibiza's and he had no idea why it happened. Given I bought two brand new Ibiza's this year I am just a tad naffed off with this issue and also the fact my wife's has two reversing lights and mine only one yet exact same models. :cartman:

getting pulled becuase of them.

pull headlight switch out, and snip number 11 to deactivate.

You haven't seen this before? You do drive with your eyes open don't you?

Possibly one of the stupidist pointless options ever.
In my opinion anyone running this option looks like a tit. Just going straight over even medium sized roundabouts and the fog lights are dancing around for no reason oh er than to annoy the pants off others.
