Hi, long time since i have been on here.
my car went out of warranty at the weekend and the next day when i tried to fold down the rear seats (in IKEA with loads of wonderful flatpack to try and fit in) the lever was stiff then when pulled seems to have come detached from the mechanism. there is now no resistance when i pull it and it doesn't do anything. has any one else had this or know how to fix it?

Very common problem on the Leon/Toledo :(

You have a connecting rod inside the seat that connects the lever at the top to the seat catch in the middle, connected with a plastic clip (for some god-forsaken reason) that, of course, gets brittle over time and snaps.

...I assume the Ibiza is similar (though the part numbers probably won't be)

You can normally drop the seat by pushing the catch up from inside the boot using a screwdriver (you may have figured this bit out already...?)

The parts (for the Leon, anyway) are cheap enough, but there might be an element of disassembly to replace them ...I've not had to do it myself *touch-wood*

cut the cloth. do you recon i should go from the front or the back of the seat?
ye i used my credit card to fold the seat down after some swearing. but i am unsure of the best way to try and take it appart i will have a look in the leon section and see if it is the same for the ibiza.
thanks
