so i have managed to find a forge twincooler for my cupra mk2 at a bargain price but the owner has informed me that oil has managed to find it's way into the cooler. could this be a problem? he reckons it could be soaked in petrol to clean it....

Thats probably the reason its cheap. I have one on my K1 and would recommend it to anyone.
 
If its cheap enough you could take it to a radiator specialist, they'll do a good job. Twintercooler worked wonders on mine, good bit of kit!
 
could the oil have caused any damaged to the point where one could lose out on performance? if so then im better off saving for anew kit or buying the s3 cooler...

I don,t know the answer to your question but i would walk away from it and get a new one - not worth the risk in my book.
 
reading the installation instructions of the twintercooler, you have to remove the plastic engine bay tray that is attached to the bumper... doesn't this affect the down force being created by the car?

I wouldnt have thought it would.

If buying new though, I would get a THS over the forge unit though.

Any, bare in mind the instructions for the twintercooler was down on a sport with a slightly different bumper, so may differ for the cupra/FR.

How big is it first. If its like those police horses then im staying away. Last time I rode a horse it was without any saddles and I lost my phone :ban:
 
oil gets past turbo seals, obviosuly if its alot of oil then it would need washing out.
 
oil gathers in the lowest point , thats why its usual to find oil in intercoolers , its nothing to worry about and wont affect performance.
my old side intercooler on my mk1 leon had about half an inch of oil and it was fine.

That IS normal, just wash it out with a good quality degresser [ some charge air coolers do have a drain plug for this problem] - good luck with the setup, do you have ALL the flexi pipes and clips?? or can you get them made easly over there?

It is a large surface area and will act as a splitter, so removing it would remove some of the down force.
