Formentor - electric tailgate not closing with key fob or in car button

Hi all!

Took delivery of a Cupra formentor today. We paid for the electric tailgate option. The key opens the tailgate, as does the button inside the car near drivers door.

however, for closing, only the button on the boot works. The key won’t close it (even if you hold the boot button), and the button near the drivers seat won’t close it either. It stays open until you manually press the button on the boot.

has anyone come across this issue? I’m guessing it’s a fault? Looks like a 2 month wait for repair at any SEAT dealer…

Must admit I wouldn’t expect it to close with the key. Always just pressed the button will test and let you know

Thank you! It also doesn’t work with the button inside the car. Accordingly to the manual both the key and button should be capable of closing as well as opening

My key closes the boot but I have to keep the key pressed for longer than I do for opening and I need to be fairly close to the vehicle. The button in the driver's door also closes the boot, but the ignition needs to be on. Doing the hokey cokey will also close the boot.

So mine locks with key and pressing the button, ignition doesn’t need to be on.

Yeah closing is a long hold and longer than feels comfy.. You also have to hold the button for complete close and have a beeping noise..

It's all a bit unnecessary - had lots of cars with auto boots and this feels a bit convoluted.
