FR Diesel judder?

A few times recently I have noticed a juddering whilst driving my 60 plate FR Diesel. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or could offer a view on what it could be.

As I say it's happened a couple of times, most recently was this morning. I was going along in 6th, slowed to let a car overtake a bike, dropped to about 40 so slipped into 4th to accelerate back up, as I pressed my foot down quite firmly the car gave 2 quite violent judders, foot off the accelerator, seemed fine - nothing on the dash, no bang, no smoke - so eased back on the pedal and all was fine.

I had a similar experience yesterday but was in 6th just under 1.5k rpm, barely accelerating at all a few lumpy judders, eased off then back on again and all seemed fine again.

Previous to that I had another occasion last week, similar to the one in 6th, again gentle acceleration bit of a momentary judder then all seemed fine again.

I've noticed this before but only rarely so has never bothered me, but 3 times in the space of a few days has made me wonder if something else might be up. Pretty sure its not related to regens as the idle speed was not up and besides I had a good run at the weekend that would've cleared any build up (I've never had the dpf light on)

The worst case of this I've had was after I had only had the car about 2 months, was driving slowly and the car was cold, a slight judder under gentle acceleration at low speed (2nd/3rd gear), stopped at some lights and had a really lumpy idle, pulled off, shifted to 2nd and really jerky, engine light came on and stalled. Got seriously worried, restarted with no problems watched/listened/felt as closely as I could for the next week or so and didn't skip a beat!

Sorry for the length of post. Just wondering if this is something that others have experienced? Misfires etc are well represented here in the 1.4tsi, but not seen anything on the diesels other than the regen/dpf problems.

Appreciate any thoughts....

Probably clutch judder, your peak torque will come in at low revs, so booting it in 4th at 40 'may' cause this. Try to get the revs around 2 - 2.5k or more before booting it.

Had this on our lass's Yaris D4D, They replaced the clutch and flywheel.
Not had any issue with this, it's mainly our lass who uses it but i drive it frequently and it's so smooth. It's way better built than the MK4 Cupra 20VT.

Slowest speed I can go in certain gears is 40 in 4th, 50 in 5th, and 60 in 6th. Any slower and it doesn't like it, hard acceleration form these combinations and I get judder.

ok, thanks guys.

I can understand the judder if accelerating hard from low revs - makes sense. But have you ever experience it like I do when barely accelerating/maintaining steady speed?

Agree about the shift indicator too, waste of time, tells me to shift to 6th at about 46mph. Maybe if you're going downhill with a stiff tailwind...

Only really done in it 6th myself whilst cruising. I try to keep the revs up before accelerating quickly due to my slightly higher than normal torque

Agree, I tend to drive on the rev counter as much as the speedo, as the car feels much smoother and pulls a lot cleaner when driving at just under 1500 rpm and above.

Shift indicator is completely useless imo.

Totally agree, complete waste of space, since I have reverted to driving by the rev counter and changing up only when the car feels happiest (as above) my overall fuel economy has increased a little to just over 52mpg.
