Petrol. 2007. They claim figures of 265bhp and 280lbs torque but cant hook it up to the dyno without risk of dmage to the gearbox. It certainly feels a hell of a lot a lot quicker - easily as quick as a standard Cupra

That's a pretty good increase if it does hit those figures. Long as you're happy with it and it goes well that's the important thing. :)

They are talking **** then. I have a remap from revo running 285lb/ft 260hp and my dsg box is fine... Hurdy had stupid amount running through his dsg box and it was fine.

Does this logic hold when the car has done > 66k?

basically...I can't afford to replace the DSG box if it knacks...nor can I afford a new car

I did wonder about it but seeing as this is the first time I've gone down the modding route with a car and £300 wasn't exactly mega bucks I'm more than happy with it...for the time being!!

My DSG started to fail after ~14 months with standard (pre-facelift petrol) torque going through it and without any lairy driving. In fact, I'm sure that long periods of sitting in queuing traffic is much worse for DSG boxes than dealing with large amounts of power or torque. The trouble is, giving your left leg a break when in heavy traffic is one of the selling points of DSG!

Very true! Although I have found it to be a tiiiiny bit jerky in D when in very slow traffic. But this seems to be fading. I prefer to keep it in tiptronic. Seems smoother for some reason. Then switch back to D once traffic clears.

DSG seems to be a bit hit/miss. Mine's now 4 years old but shows no sign of DSG problems...yet. Whereas others have probs after a year or less! So...makes it a tricky decision to map or not map.

My car gets abused and has had stage 1 map on it from 10k miles... now is at nearly 30 and is fine... sitting in traffic the clutch disengages so it wont wear them down. I have read that it is better for the box to sit in D in traffic because of this reason.

So if i wanted to take things further, would it be best to go for an induction kit (something like a neuspeed p-flo) first or exhaust? or both at same time? Or would I be best to put it on some sportlines first?

105,000 miles

remapped on 63k and still going strong. Now running Stage 2+ and around 285bhp and 330lbft torque :)

Had no problems with it whatsoever. Think I have the mechatronics issue but that is something that has existed in DSG gearboxes whether they are mapped or not, does not affect performance though and the noise on gear change at 5500rpm is just amazing

Not sure the clutch disengages fully but even if it does, the stop/start crawling nature of traffic jams must mean lots of engage/disengage cycles and hovering on the biting point... causing lots of heat and potentially (over time) risking knackering the mechatronics. For what it's worth, I used D mode almost all the time, except for the odd spirited overtake using S.
After the initial novelty of the flappy paddles wore off, I rarely used them to be honest.
