Just got back from Celtic Tuning where the guys worked their magic on the FR. Makes me think why didn't I get it done sooner!?

My DSG started to fail after ~14 months with standard (pre-facelift petrol) torque going through it and without any lairy driving. In fact, I'm sure that long periods of sitting in queuing traffic is much worse for DSG boxes than dealing with large amounts of power or torque. The trouble is, giving your left leg a break when in heavy traffic is one of the selling points of DSG!![]()
Not sure the clutch disengages fully but even if it does, the stop/start crawling nature of traffic jams must mean lots of engage/disengage cycles and hovering on the biting point... causing lots of heat and potentially (over time) risking knackering the mechatronics. For what it's worth, I used D mode almost all the time, except for the odd spirited overtake using S.My car gets abused and has had stage 1 map on it from 10k miles... now is at nearly 30 and is fine... sitting in traffic the clutch disengages so it wont wear them down. I have read that it is better for the box to sit in D in traffic because of this reason.
