FR TDi Availability

Hi All,
It's been years since I last visited this forum and posted (I brought and imported a Leon Cupra from Holland ages ago and found loads of good advice on here).

Anyway I've recently had to sell my Impreza as it was costing a small fortune to run and been considering a diesel FR (mk 2) as a replacement. I've been looking for a couple of weeks now and there doesn't seem to be many for sale privately - I guess the age of the car and the fact that I imagine they are quite popular? And people trading in to dealer for newer versions. I've looked in all the normal places like Autotrader and Pistonheads but the choice is very limited.

I'm looking at spending around 10k (less if I can mange it). If anyone is thinking of selling theirs or know somebody that is be grateful for the heads-up. I'm based around the Reading area by the way.

Not yet - but I guess that would have been the logical place to post

Should have also asked if anyone's got any advice about what to look out for over the oridinary, I'll be glad to hear it.

Mines an FR TDI with 10.5k on the clock and I would probably listen to offers around 14k for it.Had totally trouble free motoring too.Its a 57 plate.Probably too pricey for ya anyway.

You won't get much for 10k or less unless the cars done excessive mileage.

i bought my FR TDI in Feb for £11,500. 30k miles, got it mapped 2 days after, runs like a dream but i think i want to go back to a smaller petrol car now

got 2.0 tdi leon sport 07 plate had her remaped 6 months ago goes like a rocket was thinkin of selling it offers around the 10k mark its got 22 k on a present but used daily live in sheffield if ya fancy comin to look good luck tel: 07788495520

get a tdi sport 140bhp... not as powerful as an fr but a got mine for 9000 35000 miles got loads of gadgets on it..... then get it mapped

i bought mine from a dealer for 13.3k with 12k miles on it on a 57 plate with extras. I dout you would get one fore 10k.

Theres a Saab dealer near us with a Black TDI FR for under 12K - just off the A4

Thanks for all the feedback and comments.

Looks as though the FR's are holding their value much better than the Impreza I just sold did - then again 22mpg v's 40+ is probably a good reason why.

I've only seen a couple that have been advertised in this price range and both of these had high mileage (50k+) which I'm not overly concerned about, I just wasn't in a position to make an offer at the time. I'll keep looking, and think about broadening my choice - I've already started considering a Mk5 Golf GTi and trying to justify as I kind of middle ground in money saving

There was a Pearl black FR PD170 on autotrader about 2 wks ago on a 57 plate with 10k on clocks up for £9995 at a Seat dealers but went same day

Mines done 65k in 2.5years and is absolutely fine, will be buying once it's finished it's work life as it's still tight and trouble free. Full stamp and as long as it's tidy you should be fine.
