Just been filling up the screenwash and noticed that the alternator is pretty splattered with oil. Cant see an obvious place its coming from and tbh, it could have been like it for quite a while as its the first time Ive filled up in the daylight and not at night.

Any ideas where it could be coming from? Its also under the black engine cover in the foam 'padding' so presumably its coming from up top and dripping down. Its not the filler cap or the dipstick.

There are a few pipes running across the head really small metal ones or it could be a split oil fillter houseing

oil filter

oil filter sits under the front right corner of engine cover, its got the nut on top of filter cap

I would look at your intake Mani where the flap vacuum unit is I bet its coming out of there! its all the egr black crap! I had to have a new Mani because of this luck for me it was under warranty :)

So after a closer look it appears that the manifold is in one piece and the oil seems to be stemming from a small sensor right above the alternator. A bit of Googling suggests its part of the vacuum setup. Can anyone identify it? Easy to replace/fix?
