FR TDi Owners, ever use Millers Additive?

I've been reading up a lot recently about how these V-Power / BP Ultimate Diesel fuels aren't worth the extra money, and that a good thing to use is Millers Diesel Power Ecomax additive / treatment.

http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers_frame_AUTO_RETAIL.htm

I've searched the forums and looked around the specific TDI section but can't find much in the way of Leon FR TDi owners talking about it.

Do any of you use it? If so, is it worth it? Do you use it everytime you fill up? Have you really noticed any difference?

Thanks in advance :)

Yep use it every tank. It does make a difference. Don't expect your car to gain any noticeable power or anything but mine regenerates FAR less with the additive in. If I forget to use it and fill up with supermarket diesel I find my car stuttering and regenerating very very often. With the diesel additive and supermarket diesel I find my car hardly ever regens. (For me its purely worth it for this reason as it might make that awful DPF last a few miles longer before I have to get it ripped out).

Nice one, thanks for the reply. Do you buy it in bulk then? How much do you use per tank, and do you just carry it with you so you can put it in after filling up / before? I'd probably store it at home and just put it in after getting home from filling up? Makes sense to keep some in the car though i guess... Just that buying a "One shot" everytime makes it really expensive.....

Not an Fr, but i use it on my 140tdi... stick a shot in every few of tanks. did notice a difference when using tesco fuel, the car picked up a bit better as it was sometimes slightly sluggish and the smoke pretty black usuing tesco. Main diff you'll see is lack of black clouds puffin out the back when u boot it :)

I run both BP Ultimate and 1 1/2 to 2 shots of Miller's every fill up (from empty)

The difference is noticable for sure!

You would need to carry it with you as it's reccommended to add the miller's BEFORE filling up, so that it mixes well in the tank...

I use it, seems to keep the engine a bit smoother and I rarely have a regen on the DPF. Might all be in my head, but something is going ok!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but wanted to check if these are okay for use in a CR engine?

i may give this millers stuff a try,

mine's been in re-gen mode a couple of times this week........

i did fill up with a full tank of morrisons diesel last week which wont have helped things:(

hopefully a full tank of diesel v.power + the millers additive will help keep the re-gen mode at bay,

does my bloody limit when the torque's limited from low down.........talk about being laggy

when mines trying to regen there's no pull what so ever until near 3.000 rpm's.............normally it pulls nice and smoothly from 1,500 rpm's when its not re-genning :(

How can you tell if you're in re-gen mode?

How can you tell if you're in re-gen mode?

usually it starts with a torque limit lower down..............so the car will start to feel sluggish/laggy lower down........

normally the turbo should come in about 1.500 rpm's and pull nice and smoothly

when mine starts to re-gen it feels laggy low down....... it doesn't come on boost/start to pull until just before 3,000 rpm's

also your car will sometimes idle at 1000 rpm's instead of the usual 750 rpm's.............

.although mine will sometimes be in re-gen mode but the idle will still be at 750 rpm's

you dont need the DPF light on either for it to be in re-gen mode!

to cut a long story short- if your cars trying to re-gen it will- (due to a torque limit)

feel laggy/sluggish low down

will sometimes idle higher in neutral!

Yeah I noticed mine was a bit sluggish around 1500 revs, then, when I stopped at some traffic lights, the start/stop turned the engine off, and when I started again it was much better. Is it possible I interrupted a DPF regen?

Does Vag Com give you a reading as to how clogged the DPF is?

isn't the morrisons diesel bio-diesel? i've avoided putting any in from there since buying my fr about a month ago, there's a sticker in the filler cap on mine saying don't use bio-diesel, i've only had one passive regen so far (am i lucky?)

done a bit more reading on the subject - all diesel has up to 5% bio-diesel in it, just morrisons introduced one that was somewhere near 30%. and the fuel pump/dpf doesn't like it too much.
