Unless it is a different one my old dad said to me last night when our 10yr old diesel 4x4 (Mitsubishi Shugun 5ltr - I think) has packed in....and frankly it has already done that from the number of problems we have had in the few years we have had it compared to the number of problems with our old Mazda 323 over a much longer time...he has eyed the new 4x4 from SEAT.

You can imagine the news to me as a fan of the manufacturer in the BTCC. I was very happy indeed. Only I didn't physically show it.

Is the model your talking about the 4x4 and what does everyone think of it?

You'll probably have to wait till folks on here have got their hands on it Jason.... but since Mark the web moderator / host / administrator whatever illuded to going to do a test drive on one organisased by Seat I think, he will put up a full page elsewhere I guess on here, he always does.

I can see that in x many years time when I retire to the wilds of Wales a 4x4 is something one will have to have unless one wants to spends weeks cut off by snow, up a coast road. Mind you saying that I don't want to give up DSG.

This area covers all Altea derivatives except the New Leon ;). [that's called some posh code which makes it sound better than just a new Leon based on the Altea style, a Golf against a Golf +, always best to get the +].

There is also the latest concept car by Seat the Tribu which is suppose to be the new look of Seat moving away from the first production "look" of the current range which was the Altea.... there is probably reams on it on this site if I looked... perhaps not since it doesn't come up on a google here but it was shown at the Frankfurt show

Google:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=e...sult&cd=1&q=seat+tribu+frankfurt+show&spell=1

That will do nicely for the weekend shop in a few years time and all the Leons will look like that eventually... more angular - LOL, the speakers will be crap mind you they always are.

They are one of the same... if you got the money why not have both :). I wouldn't want a 4 wheel drive unless I thought I would need one and I will in the future but not now. Mind you booked two out in Chile but then we're be going off road up into the Andes and ground clearance is important... [it might be a bit rough round the wineries as well :)] lost a wheel down a whole in Bolivia, but a nice South American Indian dug us out miles from anywhere looking for Inca ruins off road as the sun was about to set.... thankfully we got back onto tarmac 20 miles on, but your average Chelsea tractor ain't engaged in searching for Inca ruins in South America just taking the kids to school which is a waste.

The old Scenic RX4 sort of got away with the big plastic bumpers, unfortunately I don't think the Freetrack does. Just too much overhang. Dark colour flatters it but not an attractive car in my eyes.

Interesting revue on Utube, it was a Polish motoring magazine revue and
they liked it, they gave the current prices for it in Spain at the time of the test and are from 26KEu to 29950 Eu for the top speccd model.
Sounds like it will be available with the DSG gearbox in Europe according to the reviewer on the TDi140 engine and above.

Personally, not my cup of tea with all that plastic though.
